The balconette shape actually holds everything up without feeling like it's digging in. I've worn it both with the straps and without, and the Italian jersey has this smooth, almost silky feel that doesn't stretch out after a few hours in the water.
Wore this strapless to a pool party and it actually stayed put all afternoon, which I wasn't expecting from a balconette. The Italian jersey feels thick and smooth, not flimsy. Only gripe is the embroidery snags a little if you're not careful with it.
The embroidery detail is what sold me, and it looks even nicer in person against the matte fabric. The balconette shape gives a nice lift, though I wish the straps were slightly adjustable for my frame. Still, it fits well and feels secure for a beach day.
